Blind Test pt. 2: slap soundclips

As for the last blind test, basses are recorded with the preamp engaged, EQ flat, balance at 50/50 - plugged straight into the soundcard (SB Audigy Platinum EX). As always, sorry for the sloppy playing.

Again i have no clue which is which, but to me 1 sounded the best, sounded the most clear of them all.

3 is thumb-ass and the best was 6, I would guess that it's a Sadowsky 24F but the rest is like finding a needle in a heystack.

liked number one immediatly, on the other hand number three
delivered the goods too, more of a dirrty Funk flava, 1 has a more modern feel, it would all depend on my moods :hmm:

3 is the thumb
4 is the sadowsky PJ
5 is the MTD 635
6 is the MM J
7 is the MTD 535
8 is the F bass

I liked #2 and #8 the best. I think #8 is the 535, but thats all i know. It's funny how different they sound from eachother with slap, and how alike they sounded with fingerstyle.

Also interesting to hear how the brighter sound of #2 was the ash/maple/JJ Sadowsky, while the darker/warmer sound of #4 was the alder/rosewood/PJ one. Sometimes the stats actually are meaningful, huh?

I'm a lot more confident about these than the fingerstyle ones.

Favorite? Depends on the situation. However, #8 has a "coherence" in the tone that is just awesome.
