This is a Douglas Bass -- the richer cousin of an SX. I originally bought it because I wanted an inexpensive bass with an MM/J configuration. Now that I have a USA Peavey on the way, this one needs a new home.
She's not a tone monster but she is a very ballsy active bass, especially in the mids. Very high output pups. Strong 2-band preamp. (Think of the bastard offspring resulting from the drunken coupling of a Stingray a Ric -- that nobody wants to acknowledge 9 months later.)
The body is made of Ash and is surprisingly solid -- easily 8-9 lbs. Very nice, glossy finish which is in excellent condition. Controls are T/B/V/BL. Pots are slightly scratchy when being turned but rock solid when set. Neck is straight with excellent fretwork -- no sprout at all. Newly strung with Elixir Polywebs.
Everyone who plays it says, "Hey -- that's not a bad sounding little bass!" (I'll bet a Nordstrand 5.2 could turn her into a Holy Terror!)
Only issue is a missing trussrod cover (easy to replace) and the need of a setup to your tastes.
