Replacing with Neo Drivers

I have a Peavey 1516 cabinet. Is it possible or even practical to think about replacing the current drivers with Neo to lighten up the cabinet?

If so, can you suggest what kind I should look for and where?

Thanks...

Find some neo's and get the T/S specs on them. You could try www.partsexpress.com and look at the Eminence neo speakers they have.

Then measure your cab for the net volume (internal space - bracing) and download WinISD and input the data (the speaker T/S specs and the cab volume). WinISD will tell you if those speakers will work in that box.

Even if the neo's were to lighten it up, you do know that Peavey uses plywood made from petrified wood, and will still weigh a ton, right?

Thanks...does the website you provided have the WinISD program to download?

Those old peaveys are built like tanks...
Before I shelled for new lighter drivers, I'd pull the old ones and weigh them, compare that to what you want to put in.
I'm guessing the weight savings won't be significant in the overall package...

Like I said, it's the petrified wood in the plywood Peavey uses that will break your back! :D
