The winner of this contest will receive the 287 page book Ampeg: The Story Behind the Sound.

A $32.95 value!

To win you must be the first person to post a genuine, legible, personal picture of a Vietnampeg or Chinapeg "SVT" bass amplifier. Yes, that means any one of the many models currently fitting the loosest definition of an SVT amplifier. There are at least eight so do not despair and think only the all-tube 300 watters qualify. Excluded are any effects, DIs, or accessories that bear the SVT designation as they are not amplifiers.
  1. There's only one book to win
  2. Winning picture must include place of manufacture as either Vietnam or China or both
  3. To demonstrate your picture is yours it must contain a penny (or any coin from your local currency)
  4. You must have a valid and deliverable mailing address
  5. You must be a registered member of TalkBass before April 4, 2007
  6. No photoshop trickery
  7. Winning picture must be posted in this thread*
  8. I (KingOfAmps) am not eligible to win
  9. Other TalkBassers who personally know me are not eligible to win (you know who you are)
  10. Ampeg and LOUD employees, reps, etc. are not eligible

*If circumstances outside my control make it impossible for participants to post in accordance to Rule #7 then exceptions WILL be made. However, as long as this thread is open it is the only thread in which your submission can be deemed the "Winning Picture". This is to make it easy and clear for us all to determine the winner. To be clear: There WILL be a winner.

I will be participating but I am not eligible. This means I may post pics of Chinapeg or Vietnampeg SVTs but can not win.

TalkBassers who know me personally are welcome to participate but are not eligible to win. (You know who you are.)

It's a great book I have it myself. The ending of the
book is now outdated history as Ampeg has undergone
significant changes under its current corporate ownership
which has produced nearly endless debate.
The book is great stuff for vintage amp geeks and anyone
who owns or loves Ampeg gear. I'm curious as to the
'why' of this contest and who will win it.
As for me I have my own opinions about what Loud
Technolgies has done with Ampeg but I'll keep that to
myself. This contest will be interesting to watch to say the
least.

In no particular order, I have two of the books. I bought the second in order to get a poster that came only with the initial run. I thought this would be an interesting/fun way by which to get the book into the hands of someone interested in Ampegs.

Also, all the recent hullabaloo surrounding Ampeg's offshore contract manufacturing, etc. has got my curiousity raised to actually see one.

98% of TalkBassers express the opinion that we should "wait and see". I'm just getting anxious. :hyper:
