SOUTHPAW BASSIST IN NEED OF HELP!!

Hello, I am a long time bass lover/player. I just have a few questions if somebody would be so kind as to answer them for me.

1. Which do you think would be a better purchase as far as left-handed basses go? I am deciding between a B.C. Rich Platinum Warlock left-handed Bass, or a Schecter Stiletto Studio-4 left-handed bass? I have read plenty of reviews but the best advice can only come from somebody who has one/has played one. Also, if you have any better suggestions, please feel free to name them.

2. If anyone knows any good left-handed bass guitar shops, internet or otherwise, I would appreciate it if you could help me in that direction.

Thanks alot and I appreciate it!

Welcome to TB. There are quite a few of us leftys here so I'm sure you'll get some good advice. I bought my first lefthanded bass online from http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/. I got a Schecter Omen 4 and couldn't be happier with both the quality of the Schecter but also the price and service from Drum City Guitarland. Even though I've since added a special ordered
G & L ASAT and a recently bought MIJ Fender P, I still play my Schecter quite a bit. Hopefully MysticBoo will chime in here, he's had a couple of Schecters.
Dont' forget to join the Lefty Union! ;)

I'd go with the schecter, I had a warlock when I first started out, thing neck dove like no other. Ended up being harder to play than I wanted to put the effort into doing. Sat under my bed for a couple years before I eventually sold it off. Looked cool/sounded good, just not too comfortable to play.

Yeah...

I'd wanna try the Schecter, honestly. I have a B.C. Rich Warlock Plat. (lefty!) The neck and Head ARE heavy! I got to an extent where my right hand was as strong as my left, but my right shoulder blade KILLED me! I wouldn't give up Thor for anything, but I wouldn't mind adding a Scheck stick to the mix. I bet it would be a lot lighter, with tone as good as the Rich.

Another source for inexpensive lefty basses is Rondo Music:

No name brands, but you'll find plenty of people on this site who say they are more than worth their low price.

I've visited Southpaw Guitars in Houston before. I liked the selection ok -- they weren't particularly willing to deal on price, but I still came away with something I liked. But this was over 10 years ago, before the Internet made life a lot easier for us lefties to find good stuff. :)

Another vote for the Schecter!

I've owned two left-handed Stilettos - a Custom-4L and an Elite-4L. I still have the Elite for a good reason - the Stiletto series is overall awesome!

The Studio series is not only gorgeous, but it has one major advantage - a mid EQ knob in addition to the usual Bass and Treble Knobs. Plus, it has a nice slim neck, plays smoothly, and thanks to the three-band EQ, is versatile enough for any style.

Go for the Studio!

Oy...THAT makes me feel bad

I got a BC Rich, and it does sound pretty good!

However, the neck thing IS true...heavy as all HELL, and i developed BOTH my biceps playing that thing

For my small hands however, I need a short scale bass...so I'm ordering one in later this year
