In the next couple fo weeks i will most likely be upgrading my rig for something different. At the moment i run a SWR Workingpro 400 with a a hartke box, the tone isnt cutting it through the mix, also its just to clean. I love the low end punch it has but needs more mids, at the current moment i run a eq pedal with the mids raised and that is all right for the time being, but i need some dirt. I ve been looking through all the popular Bass preamps, as i wish to head down the Preamp+Power setup. Such candidates are :
Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp
Fender TBP
BBE Tube preamp (cant think of the name for name for now)
The rackmount Sansamp bass Driver + a Rocktron Gainaic
Now i really love the tone that Steve Digirgio gets, also Sean Malone, Greg Christian and Alex Websters live tone (such as the Live Cannabilism album)
All of these are at the same price, so thats all good. Overall i would like to achive a nice growl, slight over drive, that punchs therough anything.
I play a Lakland 55-02 with lakland pickups, with Erniball regular slinkys. Also i have a Trace Elliot SMX Dual Compressor.
The Sansamp + Gainiac is a particular combo to me, as true Bi-Amping could be achived. Anyway any recomendations would be great
