Bartolini or EMG P/J?

I'm going to buy new pickups for my Jackson Concert V and I have two options, EMG P/J and Bartolini P/J. What I need is, a "fuller" sound, more low end&low-mids. The bass itself has a growly but a bit thin tone and I'm trying to make it thicker. It has an alder body and maple neck, bolt-on, and the style I play is death metal, I play with fingers and certainly not looking for a thin-ear piercing-distorted-dull-crappy bass tone :p. And two more things, is this pair of Bartolinis active, and is this site (bestbassgear) reliable on online purchasing?

Thanks!

FWIW:

the description says they're passive - which probably 95% of Barts are. Bestbassgear either is or has been a TB sponsor. I'm guessing more TBr's have purchased pups from them than any other online retailor - at least that handles their brands. I haven't heard any complaints of recall and a fair of amount of praise for them.

Don't play that style but I've had lots of Barts (though not those) and EMG PJ's and they're both flexible pups (the Barts in general - but there are exceptions) that work to a broad range of musical styles and aren't hard to find a useable tone.
