OK, you all know the head (or at least should ;))

Amp is in excellent condition with rack ears, feet and power cable ready to go. Gold chip upgrade (nice touch) as well. Full-blown 550B! Well packed also. Works perfectly with no issues.

Except one...please read carefully.

IMPORTANT: THE ISSUE I'M ABOUT TO DESCRIBE DOES NOT IMPAIR THE FUNCTIONING OF THE AMP IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER.

Whew, OK...

When I got the amp new from Dave I noticed an interesting phenomenon. When the amp was powered up and hooked up to a cabinet; if the main volume was all the way up and nothing plugged into the input, turning the input gain up would make a strange "swirling" noise. Plugging a cable into the input jack makes it go away. It does not have any other effect. Used the amp without further incident since then for 2 years.

Naturally I contacted Dave and we talked about it. There is a small issue with the input jack sleeve not being seated properly (or something like that; can't remember for sure to be honest) that Dave immediately offered to fix free of charge (important!) and also further assured me that other than the weird/annoying factor it does not impair or hinder the amp in any way.

Since I don't make a practice of using a bass amp without a bass plugged in (kinda defeats the purpose) and since I didn't wish to be without it, I just let it go.

Now the time has come to sell. I have contacted Dave (feel free to verify any of this with Dave....email addy at the Thunderfunk website) again and he will still honor his offer to correct the jack for free if that seems like it's something that would bother you. (I don't care but I can understand why it would).

As a result, I am pricing the head discounting a bit to offset the amount that you would incur as a buyer if you wished to ship it to Dave. Like I've said; I used it for 2 years and it never really meant anything as a practical matter.

Anyway, asking $850 +shipping (probably around $25). Sorry, NO international shipping...had too many problems with that lately.

Feel free to check my feedback and email me ([email protected]) with ANY questions....I want a potential buyer to be happy and feel good about his/her purchase!

I'm sure everyone appreciates the honesty but that doesn't sound like an issue to me:D

I'd say this is perfectly healthy.

Good deal for whoever picks up this head (I have a 550"A" myself). I would recommend getting the fix done to whoever gets this amp. I sometimes unplug my bass from the input jack inbetween sets instead of powering the head down. That keeps the fan blowing and cooling the amp down without risking accidental noise between sets. Not that the amp really needs it, but since the chassis is the heat sink on these amps it makes me feel a little better to do that. Most of the time I use a Sadowsky DI/preamp, so the mute feature on that sucker makes this practice moot. Still I'd recommend getting the fix.

Heh, minor jacking of someone's for sale thread. My bad.

I'd also like to note that in my experience Dave is very quick about turning these repair jobs around and is good with updates on what's going on. In fact you could order this and have it shipped to Dave, who would fix it and ship it to you and you probably wouldn't notice much lag.

Also, this is a hell of a price. I'm tempted to jump on it myself, I really miss my 550B.
