What was the most uncomfortable neck you have owned on a bass ? I think it could have been the Lakland Hollowbody for me. It was just too thin and narrow for me which was disapointing as everything else rocked on the bass.

What was the most uncomfortable neck you have owned on a bass ?

Jazz bass for me. Actually any neck that tapers a lot and leaves a tiny width at the nut. I have pretty long fingers and it just kills my wrists and cramps my hands. I like 5 string basses more and more for the bigger neck.

I've only owned 3 necks. An Ibanez SG 4-string, a Micahel Kelley 4-string AEB, and a Lakland 5-string. Never had an issue with any of them.
I looked at Warwicks at one point, but I'm agreement with Latimour. I just didn't like them. I felt like I was playing a baseball bat.

I prefer the jazz neck myself, but I've never had a probem with any of the necks on any of the basses I've owned.
The neck of an Epiphone Ripper, the reissue ones, i had one and hated that neck. dude i just hated for no reason other than didnt feel good.
Actually, the only neck I have ever had to adjust to is the Spector NS5CRFM I play currently. Its ok now, but its thick front to back and it took me a while to get used to it.
I've never been particularly fussy about neck profiles. I've played necks ranging from my Hamer Cruisebass (the original first series) with a nice thick neck to my early '90's Ibanez SDGR 1000 with the toothpick neck. Liked 'em all.
I'd have to say the least comfortable neck on any bass I ever owned was on an Epi

Got a great deal on a used one, kept it for 2 months and then sold it for twice what I paid.
Just couldn't get used to the neck dive and the lack of cut-away beyond the 12th fret. I really wanted to like it, but it was impractical.

My first bass was a Gibson LP standard and that thing was like trying to pin cables down to a telephone pole. Made me look like a freakin' prodigy when I got my Jazz bass a few months later.
I had a Warwick Thumb BO 5 that was very unconfortable to play but it wasn't for the neck, it was the neck dive that drove me crazy.
The neck that i couldn't get used to was a friends Rickenbaker.
It felt the same width at the nut as on the last fret and as much as i like the look, i can't handle those necks.

That's funny! This is the thing I appreciate most about the neck on a Ric.

It was on an Alembic. It was just too flat and wide. I loved the sound and the look, but after 5 minutes, I got an awful pain in my left palm. After a couple months, it never got better, in fact it got worse.

To my hands, a Precision neck doesn't feel right at all.
As for basses that I've owned, I had an Alverez with a glossy neck finish and my hand would just stick to it. Didn't like that one much and it's now gone.
