ok, i've gotten a lot of private messages and emails over the years about my basses, so i thought maybe it'd be cool to see if you guys are interested in seeing/hearing an indepth review of any of em. just as a recap, here's the ones i play now

and then the ones i've retired...

and of course...

so vote for the one you'd like to see the first review on (i intend to do them all), and i'll try to make it happen. and if you don't care, thanks for reading this far :D.

bah, tried to do a multiple choice poll. lol.

anyway, yeah, i went from 4 to 7 directly, in '93.

which one would i save in a fire? that's really hard to say. probably the doubleneck conklin, but not without much gnashing of teeth. both of my 8's have been getting a lot of play lately, and my first two (The ones on the floor by the cats) have always been my main ones.

Just start on the left (or right) they all fasinate me.

What year is the 4 string Ric? I've got an identical '78, bought new in '79. Mine's now retired too, but I'm only up to 5 strings and that's only in the last month or so.

the ric 4001 is an 83, iirc - i used to think it was a 73, but i think i misread the sn on the jack. it was my first "real" bass (first bass was the hondo alien 'berger-wannabe).

i gotta say, i absolutely love rickenbackers, and i'd still buy em, just to look at, if i had the dough heh.

The Ritter! :hyper: :D

heh. that review'd be easy. i originally got the bass because i was going to do reviews (i did a review of a fabulous jerzy drozd 7 string too, right before hand) but once i actually got the ritter, i had to have it, so the review then didn't get posted. i still have it though, but i didn't want to post it then because i thought it might look bad - here i got a bass to review, and all of a sudden i own it. heh.

Just as an aside to your main question, JT, which one of these would rescue if (God forbid :(), you had a house fire?

Or is that just too difficult to answer :hmm:?

 John! I was talking about your cats! You mean you'd really leave them to burn and take your Conklin instead :eyebrow:!?

OK, you win ;)! I quite like the 2nd bass from the left myself, but they're all amazing. Certainly a radical progression from a Hondo ALIEN :p!
