Tips/tricks for living, what are some you've found over the years?

Not stuff like sayings, but simple things that you don't see or hear everyday.

NOT: Always respect others, always change your oil, love life like it's your last day on Earth, etc.

YES:
You can freeze bread to keep it longer.
You can microwave hot dogs, ramen.
Rainx actually does work.
Sam's club really does save you money in the long run. It's only 40 bucks or something per year and you can always take your neighbors along. ;)
Put some salt under your glass at a restaurant to keep it from sticking to the napkin/coaster underneath.
Craigslst.com -be sure to check out the "Free" section
It makes a difference, but not as huge as you'd think to preheat an oven before making a pizza. It's still possible to make a very eatable pizza without preheating.

I already made a "product" thread like this, so try to keep it to tips/tricks.

Some other life-hacks:

If you have a decent credit card, it should already include the collision insurance that car rental agencies try to sell you.

If you're seated with guests at a circular table, your bread is always to your left, and your drink is to your right.

You almost always get what you pay for.

Righty tighty, lefty loosey.

If you leave a ballpoint pen in your pants pocket before you wash them, it'll probably explode in the dryer, leaving pen marks all over the inside of said dryer. To remove this mess, dip a few terrycloth rags in bleach, wring them out a little bit, toss them in the dryer, and run it for 45-60 minutes.

It doesn't sound like it would work, but it does.

I actually will try this, I have a coat with that same problem!

This is way more what I'm looking for than the general greeting card sayings...

If a woman asks you your opinion on her weight, intelligence, etc, lie without hesitation.

Example:

Woman: "Do you think I'm stupid?!?!"

You: "No!"

Don't stop to think about it just lie!

My wife and I just bought a condo, some things we found out the hard way:

"Conversion" condominiums -ones that used to be apartment buildings- are NOT qualified for FHA first time buyer loans.

Always keep documentation for all money you gather for your down payment. The lender will want documented proof that the money you are putting up was in your possession for at least 30 days, or that it is yours without obligation (ie, you didn't get a loan for it.) If your relatives are giving you $$$ to help, it should be a cashiers check -personal checks are poorly regarded as documentation.

Lenders, banks, and sellers will NOT explain how to avoid the premature withdrawal penalty if you use 401K/ IRA money for a down payment. Only tax experts will know anything about it.

Of course alot of this may be moot in teh current econimic climate...

A product that actually works like it's supposed to:

You can save yourself a lot of problems by getting into the habit of putting the toilet lid down.

Get a deep freezer and keep most of your frozen food in it. Use in conjunction with the aforementioned Sam's or Costco membership.

Kids are people, too.

A chess set has no DRM.

If you don't love what you do, move on to something else.

No matter what you may think, it really could all end tomorrow.
