Just got a track from a board mix at church that really shows how gritty and smooth these old chool Yamaha's can get.

I love these basses.

<warning- Christian music>
The song is "My Glorius" on my MySpace page.
I take a few little bars at about 2:50 in.
(see sig below for link!)
Enjoy!

Wow -- awesome tone. I love Yamahas. Is that just direct?

Yeah, Just flat into my Groove Tubes DI to the FOH.
Demeter Compulator compressor taking just a hair off.
EQ on the bass: Bass boosted maybe 7-10%.

What I ment by gritty and smooth was the middle break down section where I went up high for a few (around 2:50 maybe?) - "mini solo" if you will, it was real smooth.
It really responds to your right hand. Dig a little and it get mad, but lighten up and she smoothed right out.

And the B on it.........sounds pretty tight and defined IMO

Thanks for the kind words guys!

And yeah, those old shool Yamaha's.....they really get it done but good!!
Don't need the latest and greatest some times eh?!?!?

My BB5000A is in the shop getting a bit of a make over right now:
Sadowsky pre-amp (with VTC) and NordStrand PJ pick-ups.
Can't wait until that thing is done!!!!
Even with the stock pick-ups, the Sadowsky pre screamed in that bass.
I'll hopfully get a clip up of it when it's done.
