New Essex (SX) Headstock?

Hi folks.

I spotted this on basschat.co.uk (the British equivilent of talkbass).

Scroll down the page midway to see the picture. Looks like the headstock of the Jazz fretless clone Hohner made a few years ago.

I cannot vouch for its accuracy, but it seems that it comes from a newsletter of the Spanish distrubutor of Essex products in Europe.

I remember reading in a recent e-mail from Kurt at rondomusic that the classic style headstocks would soon be gone and the new headstock models with new prices were coming, so you better get one if you wanted the old style one (and the old price).

This is the only info I know about it.

Naa! I can't see a large drop in purchases just because of a slightly new headstock design. Afterall, the overall quality
of SX basses has been improving year by year.
I don't think the new design is bad, just different.
It could have been worse and it sure beats the heck
out of the older flared pointy ones.

I recently purchased an SX as a backup, and can personally say I bought mine in a hurry now because the upcoming headstock is butt ugly.

I think the headstock is more important than SX realizes. I'm with the "sharp drop in sales" crowd...

It doesn't look as nice as the current headstock, but it sure beats the headstock on mine!

You people are so picky about a $100 bass, it amazes me. Deal with it, they're still cheap as hell and the perfect beater bass, regardless of a small change to the headstock shape. It's not like they're bringing back the fishhooks.
