I just bought an ATK300 that was on sale at MF. Black with the distressed chrome hardware.
I want to add a neck pickup to it.
The cutting I will have no problem with as I am an accomplished woodworker. It's the electronic end of the install that I will have a problem with. If it was a direct replacement, I'd have no issue but adding one I need a little help.
My thoughts are this, get a passive J-type neck pickup and wire it to the jack with a volume pot.
I know Swamirob had this done but I think I need more info.
And as to why I'm doing this, I like the sound that a neck PU adds to a bass when used in conjunction with a bridge PU.
Thanks in advance.

- What type of pickup would work for this?
- Would I have any issues volume wise with both the active bridge and the passive neck PUs on at the same time?
- What type of volume pot should I get?
- Or would a blend pot work better than a volume pot?
- If I went with the blend pot, would a 250k attenuate the high frequencies on both PUs? Not sure if I want to attenuate anything on the bridge PU.
- Would adding the passive PU to the jack, would there be any issues electronically with the existing PUs?
