Pics of my L2500

Hi guys - I've mentioned my bass before, but never had pics to post, so now that I do....

Here's me with it with my Led Zep tribute band CODA:

It's a 2005 L2500 in Gold Flake finish with a gun oil tint neck, maple fb and matching headstock.

You were very brave to custom order that combo.........

But you pulled it off! Never seen one like it ... And I DO like it.

Ha! Thanks!

Funny thing, I REALLY wanted to get it with gold hardware too, but they stopped offering it a year or so before I ordered.....

I was turned on to the G&L's by a Tribute L2500 (Black/Maple) - such a nice sounding bass, very wide range of tones available! So I had the idea in my mind of the color combination - I almost went for the Silver Flake, and then probably would've gone for an ebony fingerboard (they were still available at the time). But the gold with the gold-like tinted neck came out better than I thought it might, so I've been very happy with it.

Beautiful basses bro..but I can't really see the color on the Status...I'm assuming its a metal flake...?

It's a green tint in the translucent finish over the graphite weave. There is an awesome pic of the same finish on the status-graphite site on the 2nd page of the Stealth basses - unfortunately, I couldn't get the same lighting results with my camera.

Most of the all-graphite tints look almost black from a distance, or in low light - but in the right lighting, they are spectacular!

Similar experience for me as well - I worked for a music store that was a G&L dealer for a number of years before I actually picked one up and gave it a decent try out through an amp. I was never a big fan of Fenders (P's or Jazz's), and at one point, I thought I'd like to get a Musicman, so I started doing some research - then I read a lot about comparisons between the EBMM and the G&L L series, so I took a dive on a Tribute, as a backup bass. It soon became the one I pulled out all the time, and the only reason I sold it was to get my USA model in the finish I wanted.

Previously, I've owned these basses (among others):

Ric 4001 (Natural w/checker binding)
Hohner Steinberger copies 4 & 5 string
Samick Artist Series 6 strings
Warwick Thumb 6 NT
Ric 4003 (Red w/Black binding/hardware)
Steinberger XL5N (narrow 5 string)

Honestly, I think my GAS is cured (yeah, right....)

Between the 2 basses I own now (the L2500 and the Status Stealth 6) I can't think of anything else I would really care to play - I keep my Tribute L2000 just 'cuz 2 of my bands do a few tunes where I play synths and the singer plays bass, and he's more comfortable on a 4 string.

I do regret getting rid of the Godin A5 I used to own, but maybe someday I'll replace it with a Status Electro 5..... (Uh-oh, am I feeling a little GAS rumble in the lower belly????)

D'OH!!!!!!

;)

That's very nice, especially with the mirrored pick guard!

Can't see the top of the neck, though - matching headstock or natural?

Natural, unfortunately. (I have 2 more pics on my Flickr, you can click next)

I'm saving up for a matching headstock SB-2 though! I can't get enough of them! This one - Invalid Link Removed
*Drool...*

I'm saving your pic if you don't mind, I tend to save down all the sparkle basses and yours just make me go :hyper:

Don't mind at all!

When I put mine on order (took about 4 months), someone else here had a pic of one (in a lineup of about 8 G&L's), but it had a rosewood FB instead....

I would look at that pic a lot, just to pass the time til mine came in....
