I feel like changing the pick guard on my Squier P bass. Its red and currently has a plain white pick guard which I think looks nasty (no offence to anyone else who has em) but what colour should I replace it with? Pictures would be appreciated to give an idea of what it would look like.

P bass pick guard choices

i would say black or pearl.
the tort is too close to the same color as the bass, and so imo looks a bit icky. you want one with a nice contrast.
which one of the two depends on the look you're going for, pearl for a more traditional look and black for a more modern/edgy appearance.

I think any white pickguard would look roughly 2.3 hojillion times better if it's swapped with a pearloid one. But that's just white, maybe cream. The other pearloid colors don't look anywhere near as nice.
Don't mean to hijack, but do ou know if a standard P pick guard will fit hole for hole on an old Peavey Fury?

I think I would go with black too, but solid black plexiglass. This place has all kinds of insane plexi pickguards that would look great with red, and they'll do solid black for $50.

All pgs are .125 plexiglass, with polished edges, a classy touch. That's why Rics look so nice.
I 2nd the nomination for black screws. I think I'd keep the chrome control knobs, if everything else is chrome.
They do plexi at www.pickguardheaven.com. but I don't know if they polish the edges.
