Fellow low-end brothers,
Here's the thing:
I had a Warwick ProFet 5.2, a Warwick 4x10 (8ohm) and a Warwick 1x15 (8ohm).
I used to connect the 4x10 to the amp's speakon connection, and then used the cab's speakon output to connect to the 1x15.
Today I bought a Gallien Krueger 1001 RB-II.
I used the exact same connection. Amp(speakon)>>4x10>>1x15
Played one note. Boom. The amp goes kaput and smoke starts to come out of the bottom cab, the 1x15.
I simply couldn't believe, and even though I'm really pissed off, I'd like to know if I should be mad at myself for having done something wrong.
Can anyone help me understand what happened?
Greetings from a seriously sad bass player.
