Amp into Headphones?

Today I bought a Behringer Xenyx 502 mixer and I can't get my bass sound into the headphones when the amp is on. If I turn it off it will work but if the amps on it doesn't go through the headphones. When the amps off the sound/tone is very lacking in oomph.

So how can I have my amp on connected to the mixer and have the sound go only through my headphones???

Any help is appreciated!!! If you can't tell allready I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff.

I'm going to get a Acoustic B200 soon and I got the mixer so I can
A) Hook up my iPod
B) Have the ability to pratice quietly at night.

For now I guess I'll just use the headphones with the port on the amp.

So would this mixer be able to put the sound from the B200 into my headphones?

you need to come out of an amps output into the mixer to hear both. How are you doing this at the moment? The b200 has a direct out, you should be able to come out of that into the mixer. Your current amps headphone out will probably do as well though it won't sound great. Probably ok though.

Bear in mind that some amp outputs don't kill the speaker, ie it will still be giving out sound loud and clear. The b200's direct out will probably do this for example. You will need to find a way of killing the speaker out as well. you may be able to unplug the speaker on the back of the amp. DON'T do this with a tube amp though, and NEVER connect any thing to a speaker output, apart from a speaker of sufficient power and correct 'load', or a specialist device.
