Me & My Warmoth

The body and neck were both from the showcase...
body: G 5, swamp ash with quilt maple top ( 4 lbs)
neck: maple with rosewood. bound and blocked w/pearl
string through TK 5 bridge
the tuners and string ferrules, bridge and misc hardware are from Warmoth.

pups: Barts, classic MM & Jazz
5.4 pre amp
plus the knobs from
http://www.bestbassgear.com/

The neck and body were both finished by Marty Bell out of Vista CA

Honey Burst Body and vintage tint neck

The Bass has a sweet, warm yet hi fi sound, the EQ is smooth and can get RAD !!!! I like to run both pups and no EQ.... I play through a GK rig and I find I don't need much, if any EQ on the amp.

It records straight to the board (DI) so fine.......

p.s. I like the MM pup in the MM "sweet spot".... every once and a while I'll use it by it's self and get all growly and rockin'.... just for S+Gs

The first 7 songs are the Bass...

It's beautiful. I hope you get many years of enjoyment from it. Been toying w/the idea of building a Warmoth myself but the total price for what I want scares the pants off me. I've never built an instrument before and I'd be afraid to try with $1000+ worth of parts. :o

*edit*
I listened to a few of the songs; sounds great! Nice tunes too. :bassist:

ahhhh - I didn't realize you had it finished outboard. Great job nontheless.

The upside is you get a $2000 instrument for that. Just make sure you get exactly what you want cuz you'll take a beating if you try to sell. Having said that, I just ordered my 4th Warmoth ($1k for body and neck alone) and no worries! Can't wait to get it!!!:hyper::D

After playing for over 40 years I've come to know the Bass sound I want to hear and after many Basses with all kinds of woods and electronics I've got a pretty good idea on how to match stuff together to get it. (And with wood, though it may seem like a crap shoot, Warmoth has a good rep and I've had nothing but good customer service! so I placed my trust in them and have gotten everything I expected and more) I saved some money by buying from the showcase and waiting for the deals......

I had my Bass assembled by Jim Crawford of San Diego

I felt that, due to the complexity of the build (mostly the electronics install), it was best left to a professional

The total cost.... $1500.00..... I have not seen a Bass so far (with a bound and blocked neck) that is my Bass's equal for the same price.

also I had built 4 Mighty Mite Basses in the past so I knew what to expect $$$ wise......

I knew what I wanted and I had the $$ to throw at it.... it was the right thing for me to do at the time......

I needed a 5 string Bass for this Band () after trying a bunch at GC I opted to build this one and I'm very glad I did..... I'm not a great Bass player and the low B sometimes tricks me... but this Band is all arrangement and parts.. no improvisation at all, so I can play a 5 string and still sound good.:bassist:

I'm with you - I also had all of the Warmoths professionally assembled. I always get a G&P for the necks too. After the initial assembly they've each gotten just one other adjustment after they settled in - that's it, and I'm talking years of solid setup! After that I just tweak to accommodate whatever strings I put on. I have been satisfied with every one of them - the woods are amazing and the finishes flawless.

As an aside - I ordered my new build 2 weeks ago and decided to ask whether they still only have one profile for bass necks. Much to my surprise I was told they will now offer a "slimmer" version (for a $25 upcharge of course:hmm:). This is not yet on their website. I'm trying it out. I was told it won't be like a Geddy for example, but will be "noticeably slimmer". Let's see what that's all about.

Anyway, you got a real beauty there. It sounds like you are very pleased with the results. Enjoy!!!
