Push/Pull Question... (calling Line6man!!!)

Can this be done?

- Jazz Bass
- Volume/Tone only
- Tone Pot is a Push/Pull
- Down position = both pickups on full
- Up position = bridge pickup solo

Also curious if with the same setup as above if it could be wired so that the tone control is bypassed in the down position and active in the up position? Meaning the tone control only has any effect on the bridge pickup when solo'd.


Also, another separate question I don't think I've seen the answer to:

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to mixing 500k and 250k pots? Meaning, if I'm using (2) 250K pots now and want just a little more brightness, but not as much as (2) 500k would give me, could I switch just one pot to a 500k, or is there a reason this wouldn't work as I think?

This would be very simple. Just wire the switch so it shorts the hot on the neck PU to ground when pulled up.

Since the P/P pots are typically DPDT, you could use the other side to interupt the ground on the tone pot. So, yes you could make the tone non-functioning in one of the settings.

Yep.

One pole to put the neck pickup in and out of the circuit, one pole to switch the tone control in and out of the circuit.

Very easy setup with a push/pull pot.

You can mix pot values if you like.

A higher value for the volume will give you a bit more output/treble.
A higher value for the tone will make it brighter when turned all the way up, but sound the same when it's resistance matches the setting on a lower value pot.

- 2 Push/Pull Pots

- When both pots are in down position, both controls are bypassed and both pickups go straight to output jack

- When the volume pot is in the up position, the volume and tone controls are switched into the circuit

- When the tone pot is pulled up, the bridge pickup only is in the circuit (and the v/t controls are in or out based on the up or down position of the volume pot)


Is that do-able?
