I didn't sell my car to buy a bass per se, but I did buy a bass with some of the money I got selling my car.

Car: 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible, 66,000 original miles. ($7500 in 1992)

Bass: 1980 Musicman Stingray ($400 in 1992)

I never am that low on cash to where i would have to give up a car to get a bass, plus I need to get to shows and practice ,I need a car.

However My gear costs more then my truck, 1984 mazda b2000 older then me by 5 years. It was 700$ with 60,000 original miles , it was cheap due to the paint being half gone .

Right now I have double that in gear at least , and had over 3 times more then that in gear a few weeks ago.

does an amp count?
I sold my 91 Honda Civic Hatchback this year. It only had 109k on it and was in super condition. I sold it for 2 Grand and the same day found the Orange AD200B that was rebuilt by Electric Amps for sale. I didnt MEAN to sell the car for an amp, but it worked out that I did.

I had to deliberate on this one for awhile, but I'm gonna go ahead and give you #3. Congratulations on the great head unit :)

Same here...
I sold a 1966 Mustang for a profit :)
I bought a 9' Olhausen pool table
A custom Lambros Cue
Oh, and I bought my first bass a Fretless Warwick Corvette.

I didn't sell the car to buy any of these things, its just how it worked out. But I wish I still had the car. :(

Ladies and Gentlemen, Member #4 sold a Mustang and bought a Corvette - talk about trading up ;)

Rock on man :bassist:

1) What kind of car was it?
2) How much did you sell it for?
3) What kind of bass did you buy?

1) a '98 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, mega-tricked out with more mods and upgrades than anybody could list from memory. Think of a stealth black wranger with raised suspenision and several engine upgrades kicking the butt off Hummers out in Joshua Tree, and you have the picture. :-)
2) Sold it for $8.5K outright cash, on my table, 10 years after buying it for $15K, with about $4K in add'l upgrades over the years. The guy who got it was lucky, cuz I was the owner, but he got a fair price too, and a lot of extras.
3) I got a "base" of a much simpler lifestyle, but that coincided with a travel bass (Zon Vinny, still to arrive when ordered in June '10), and some high-end upgrades (nice strings, and amp) supporting my regularly gigged Barker Bass, whose vertical orientation turned me onto potential with the Zon Vinny. Funny how life works.

Welcome Member #5 with the Knight Rider Wrangler :ninja:

PS, Interesting username. Here's something odd but somehow related: I have webbed toes. There is skin webbing between the index and middle toes on both of my feet  I am a mutant :bassist:

Thanks. Wow - I'm one of the first 5. Nice. I think about that Jeep,
every single day, but not from seller's regret, but for having experienced
her as long and as well as I did.

Her name was Raven. That black flappy thing that will never have another
match for the rest of my life.

But I ride an electric bike named the "Frog," and justifiably named.
So it's not like I'm still lacking in beast-like rides. :-)
Seriously, I could write a book about my electric bike.

As for my username -- it has long been considered a bit unusual. I can relate
to Kevin Costner in Waterworld quite well, but my mutationistic tendencies
are not physically derived. I' m still a mutant, in many ways, in what is the
most liberal lifestyle region of any state around here, anyway....

Great looking cars and basses!

I sold my Yamaha TRB 5PII to fund a '89 Mitsubishi Galant purchase. It went under my then GF's names as I was overseas and didn't want to pass up on a great deal.

I broke up with her, and never saw then car again. I think it's safe to say I'll never have someone buy something for me under that person's name again.

Hell hath no fury...
