Need of funds forces the sale of my "poor man's 62 RI" Fender Precision. The bass is comprised of a 2010 MIM Fender P three-tone sunburst body mated to the neck of an E-Series MIJ Precision bass (which were essentially 62 RI).
The bass has all-new CTS pots with orange drop cap and Switchcraft jack, new genuine Fender MIA brown tortoise pickguard, original E-Series pickups (I've heard these are in fact MIA), new Hipshot tuners (these required no drilling, fit into the factory holes), TUSQ nut, genuine Fender thumbrest and genuine Fender bridge/pickup covers. The bass is currently strung with a newer set of Fender 9050 ML flats.
The sound is pure Motown (especially with some foam under the bridge cover) and the feel is very similar to the few 62 RI's that I've played. Weight is just slightly over 9 pounds.
Condition is commensurate with normal wear and tear; light surface scratching, a few bumps around the edges. There is what I would describe as a 'nick' just below the neck pocket on the body; you can see this in the photos. There is also a very slight 'compression' to the bass side of the neck near the fifth fret. None of this impairs playability whatsoever. In fact, it plays very, very well.
I will be shipping this in a gig bag with the pickup/bridge covers removed and placed in one of the pockets of the gig bag. Also, the straplocks pictured will be removed and replaced with the stock strap buttons before shipping. $550 shipped CONUS. Not interested in trades or parting out.
Thanks!
