    Passive vs Active (-15db) inputs

I have a number of bass amps all having active and passive inputs and I use them all with passive basses (Fender P Basses and J Basses). Since they are passive instruments I have been plugging into the passive input. I recently started using the active input with these passive basses and this...

    NBD...no more GAS

Brilliantly true. These words should be etched into granite. At best escaping GAS is a temporary condition. I do however know of one bassist who no longer has GAS... this happened when he passed away. GAS is good for musicians. Without GAS we run the risk of becoming complacent thus denying...

Hartke HA2000 vs A/C power bar

Inside the amp there's little square holes in the backs of the pots and I thought that where you spray the contact cleaner. Am I incorrect?

Hartke HA2000 vs A/C power bar

Indeed Paul, there's nothing better than finding a friendly "receptacle" for one's "plug"

Hartke HA2000 vs A/C power bar

Thank you for your input. I really thought contact cleaner was the universal answer and had not considered the downside. Fortunately the problem ceased after I moved the plug from the power bar. I left the amp on all day and played though it many times and it works normally now.

Hartke HA2000 vs A/C power bar

I have been trying to figure out why my HA2000 occasionally loses volume and distorts. I think I am one step closer to finding the culprit (maybe) After opening the top of the amp I sprayed contact cleaner into the pots, eq sliders and on/off switch. I plugged the amp into a nearby wall socket...

Should I tell them I quit the band?

Here's my two cents for what it's worth: First of all it all centers around the music. Were/Are they good musicians? Did you like the songs? Are you a front man who plays bass and sings? Did you join the band after they were established or are you one of the founders? Was the drummer not...

    The cure for G.A.S.

WOW! that was an awesome post brother! GAS is a pleasure if you can afford it. I can't afford to buy new stuff but my lust for gear continues. My solution is craigslist where you can find great deals. I buy gear and use it for awhile to see if it's a keeper or not. If not it goes back...

My Hartke HA2000 sounds like it's farting

I have a love/hate relationship with my HA2000. It sounds fine but after about an hour of playing it loses volume. When I turn up the volume it distorts and sounds like it farting for lack of a better explanation. I replaced the 12AX7 pre amp tube and thought that would solve the problem and it...

Farty distortion from a Hartke 3500?

I know these are old posts but maybe this will help someone. My HA2000 recently began losing volume during play and then turning up the volume even slightly resulted in distortion. I replaced the pre amp tube and this cured the problem for several months ... then it began doing the same thing...

    Warwick Corvette Praise and Challenge

Brother I hear you .... my corvette is a heavy SOB! I bought my first when I was 63 but sold it due to the weight. I always regretted selling it though because of the sound. I moved to the Rock Basses which were lighter and sounded really good but there's nothing like the real thing. So, at 69 I...

    Best amp you played through

Wow! Great topic Ironbar. I have always used Ampeg bass amps and have 4. BA112, BA210sp, B100R and Micro VR (with 2-2x10 cab.) The BA210sp is currently my favorite amp but that changes from time to time especially when I play any one particular amp for a few hours. To my aging ears the 210sp has...
