some bands that always inspire me and get the ol' gears turning are: return to forever, the flecktones, Miles Davis' electric period, king crimson, the mahavishnu orchestra, gordian knot, death(when Steve DiGiorgio was with um),sadus, cynic, some porcupine tree, athiest, necrophagist, and of course primus, there's alot more but not enough time to list all of them, if you haven't heard of ANY of these bands check them out!
