Has anyone changed the tuners on the Gretch Electromatic? If you did what did you use and what size?

As far as strings on my ukelele basses I like the Aquila Thunderbrowns. They stabilize fast and sound great. You can even slide on these. Lots of sustain if you like that.

It is an exclusive from guitar center. They have mine which is off white or cream colored and they have a lime green with a maple neck that also has the block inlays. They retail at GC for about 350.00, 50.00 more than the standard version.

The 2 little set screws on each side of the bridge adjust string height. The big thumb screws I believe your referring to are to adjust the mute up and down.

I haven't even touched a bass in a couple months. I sold an acoustic bass I had, and right now I have my silverburst Jack Casady bass for sale, but not on this forum. That will leave me with 2, a Rickenbacker 4003s and a Classic Vibe pbass. That should be enough if I decide to play again.

Yes I ordered a nut driver for about 8 bucks on amazon and ground it down with a dremel with a 1/4" stone installed. Took awhile but it worked. Much faster if you have a bench grinder or belt sander.
