I appreciate the responses. Taking a few lessons, so far using fingers but do pick up the pick sometimes. Some of my favorite bass players used the pick, Chris Squire, Greg Lake, McCartney.

Hi, haven't been here in a while. Drummer by trade for over 50 years. I like playing the bass but not really any good which brings me to my question. Being close to 70 years old would you think playing with a pick is the way to go? I'm not trying to be the next Jaco, I just want to get up...

Still play between 150 and 200 per year.......until now
