I think 4+ inches is required to transfer the liability to the carrier during transport, unless the fine print has changed.

I'm 99.9% sure they are different lengths (one neck pickup, one bridge pickup). They are the same size as the Alembic jazz set, which I am now using in the same jazz bass.
