Well one could argue that the nut and bridge add a little bit of sustain. The tuners are just a quality of life upgrade. The bridge also helps to make things easier. But you are right, the sire quality is good to begin with. The pickups are the single most significant upgrade. The Fishman...

I put some filler mass in it and used varnish to cover it up. Not really pretty but does the job.

Alright, pics as promised. The pickups weren't an exact fit to the humbuckers before and I had to fill out a hole where the pots are.

That includes the bass though. Actual upgrade cost was around 500€. But yeah, one only needs to spend 1k for a bass that is awesome.
