    Fender Performer Build

BassHappy, Just cruising by and thought I would see how the Transformer is working out for you now that it has some miles on it. Nothing to report yet on the hot rod. Hope all is well on your end!

    Fender Performer Build

I will be happy to comment on the bridge at that time. You are correct, the only pup still in its original position is the bridge. A comparison between bridge pups is possible, but the mass of the body has also changed with some additional routing. Anyway, I will do a comparison in 25 words...

    Fender Performer Build

Excellent review Rick, and one very nice looking bass. I am smiling while typing this because your bass is making me happy. How odd is that. I have totally enjoyed watching this progress through the final product. Enjoy the heck out of it! And congrats!

    Fender Performer Build

Yeah, a skinny 2.1" at the heel. Funny, I am so used to Performers that even though I use a Precision or Jazz more often, I switch between the three without issue.

    Fender Performer Build

Looking forward to the pics, and the new bridge. Regarding the pups, on my hot rod I moved the neck pup way forward, but the bridge pup remains in its original position. I wanted to pull more bass out. This is cool! Looking forward to Keith's pics! Steve

    Very first set of flats?

linnin, I took your advice and have GHS on three or four basses, and they are very nice, but honestly, I don't hear that much difference between them, the Chromes and the Fenders. Truth, I like the Labellas best, for feel and sound. You know how many strings I have to buy, and that extra...

    Very first set of flats?

I also use Chromes a lot as a general purpose flat wound.

    Fender Performer Bass Modification

One more modification is being made. If you have been following the Performer Build by member BassHappy (above) you know that he is going with a high mass bridge, mounted to an aluminum block routed into the body. I am kind of excited to see how this turns out. I learned that there was a...

    TELECASTER/51-56 P BASS CLUB

Hey Tele guys and gals. I am looking for a Blue Flower 68 to match up with my Pink Paisley. Have only located three, and none have been for sale. Anyone here know where one is hiding? I am willing to stand tall for one in good condition.

You know, I think I am interested in that second bridge for my hot rod. Is it still available? Any update on your bass that I should be looking for? Have a Happy, Steve

Fender "A" neck P bass history question

Someday I will remember to post the pic the first time... This is the 63P/J. The neck is original, the body (wood) is original, the rest is pretty much refin/repro, but a great gigging bass. Lindy Fralin vintage pup. As parts become available, this will become more period correct. It is #3...

Fender "A" neck P bass history question

I am researching this as I don't know the complete answer. I know bassists started swapping necks from the beginning. I have a 63P with a 63J neck on it. It is an interesting question, let's see what pops up.

    Fender Performer Build

The more I look at that bridge the more I wonder if it was carved out of a tank. That is a nice piece of metal tubing, looks even thicker that specified. Wish I could test it out with the aluminum mounting block. Sounds like a solid idea...pun intended. Happy New Year!

Flats sounds good for rock genre?

Funny, you sound just like me. I started with flats on one P and soon had them on all precisions, but kept rounds on my jazzes. Now, I have flats on all my jazzes too, except for one that just sounds too good to mess with. I also play P 80% of the time.
