Check out rondomusic.com I've heard that SX and Douglas basses are actually surprisingly good for being a sub-$200 instrument

It has 3 Xtenders. One for the E, G, and C :hyper: It definitely takes some getting used to on top of the fact it's an unlined fretless. The Xtenders are pretty fun, though :D

I picked this up about a year and a half ago. It was made for Trip Wamsley in '93 or '96. I can't remember exactly what year. It has some wear and tear on it but definitely never lost any tone! :) I'd like to save my pennies some time and get it fixed up a bit but I'd say I'm definitely spoiled...

I liked using the B. I didn't feel like I used it all that much because I like the higher register instead. I ended up tuning my bass EADGC instead and I love it. I have GAS for a 6er now though

I guess it all depends on what kind of sound you want out of it. I think it's a pretty versatile bass. This is a video of me playing my Schecter Stilletto Elite 5. It's modded a tad bit to accommodate tuning it EADGC instead of the low B. But 99% of everything in this video is stock...

I've never played on the Ernie Ball strings but thats unfortunate that the lo riders cost so much. It must have something to do with the country because I've never seen any that expensive. Even a 6 string set of Elixers wouldn't be that expensive. As far as Stainless vs. Nickel, I would go...

Coming from a metal background, a lot of it is written (in my experience) on what sounds good. Of course that's not always the case. But then again, it could all be intentional as well.

Curt Mangan, DR LowRiders, or Elixers are strings I've been very happy with. If you can get a set of Curt Mangans, do that. They're a fairly new company I think but people are starting to catch on. These are some quality strings. I've been playing Elixers lately just because that's what is...
