Hello TalkBass Detectives, I was recently given these pickups in a Bartolini B axis box. Just by looking at them I can tell that they're not Barts, but what are they? Anything worth hanging on to? And No, I didnt pay for them, don't worry.

Nice bass! I didnt know they made them in that color, very cool. Yes you're correct. I double checked and its just a strip of copper between the neck pickup and the control panel.

Phew! Good to know it seems original. Yes I understand now, it was most likely natural to begin with, was refinished and painted over, and then refinished again and restored to natural IYO. Your bass is a beaut btw.

Thank you. I see, so not original tuners either, possibly still 70's ones. The spec sheet from the dealer says it is indeed an Alder body, so if true that would confirm the body is a 73. Total weight from their spec sheet is 8lbs 15oz, but no weight on just the body and I don't have a scale...

Unfortunately no original guts :/ but photos of the back and the guts are attached. Its very difficult to tell if it is an original body, but the finger rest two holes are present underneath the pick guard, which is a good sign! And as far as the nail holes for drying, what does that refer to?

The faded look on the logo buried under the finish was a mystery to me, but the sanding job you mention would fully explain that!
