Just picked up a used Bugera Veyron Mosfet BV1001M

Actually I think @nutdog was spot on. Your position in this thread boils down to “why would Behringer lie” or “is it possible we’re all being crabby and they’re actually being straight with us?”. Nutdog’s point is that the company is laying down a claim that should strain credibility on its...

    Cars of historic interest, Ep05 - Chevy Suburban, 7th generation (1973 - 1991)

Agree, the Suburban is totally a wagon. Maybe a truck if you use it like one. I had a 2016 Tahoe for a long time. Loved it actually - it does what it’s designed to do really well and was a comfortable way to get my family up and down the hill in Colorado. But it was huge, I had to back out of...

    Cars of historic interest, Ep05 - Chevy Suburban, 7th generation (1973 - 1991)

My childhood best friend’s family were ranchers in central Texas. This truck was it.

Underrated but vital bassists UK/Ireland thread.

Maybe, but in the vernacular the word “underrated” indicates an absence of recognition broadly. If a single person felt as if, to them only, an artist should get more credit than they do, we’d use some other word to describe it, or maybe say “I probably don’t give this person enough credit.”...

Underrated but vital bassists UK/Ireland thread.

This is going to turn into a list of British bass players who may or may not be underrated. Maybe Francis Hylton of Incognito.

Which bass that you own has your favorite slap bass sound?

I love that bass and it’s definitely the one I’ve reached for the most since I got it in 2007. It’s a bit bright by nature though, and I decided it might work better au naturel. It seems to have been a good move - it’s very much a straightforward growly J bass, as you noticed. I’m running it...

Which bass that you own has your favorite slap bass sound?

Thank you! At that point it had a Sadowsky preamp. I’ve since removed it and the bass is passive. It sounds great that way too.

How do you handle unkown songs on stage?

If it’s a blues or some kind of common form and if I can see the keyboard player’s left hand, I can follow along. Otherwise - If someone can give me an outline of the changes where I can jot them down on a pad (maybe before the set starts), I’ll play but stick to roots and sync with the kick...

    Ray Gomez RIP

I wasn’t thinking of Scott Henderson but I was thinking of Carlos Rios. Rios and Henderson were both on the first Elektric Band record (the one with Got a Match). Apologies for the confusion.

    Ray Gomez RIP

He was on some of the early Elektric Band stuff too, before Gambale got there. Rough loss - it’s hard to see our musical heroes pass.

Arthritis / short or medium scale recommendation

I’m in a similar situation. The pain at the base of my thumbs is there, but not yet impeding my playing. I suppose it will reach the point where it is inside of 5 years. I’m 55 now. My mother and her mother both had debilitating arthritis late in life. I came to the bass decades ago from...

    NBD: Lakland Skyline 55-02

Those were super popular in the 00s and I’m not sure why we hear less about them now. They sound great, they look great, and the few I’ve played have had excellent necks. A great choice. Way back in ~2009 I walked into a live music club at Disney Pleasure Island. No idea who the band was that...

Car Question -- Slightly Different than Usual

Sometimes I think that everyone looking for a new vehicle should start out assuming that a Toyota RAV4 is the best choice and then look for data that might establish that it’s not. Those just seem to be in the Goldilocks zone across most measures.

    50-something tour

I’m as big a Rush fan as anyone, but I think his bass parade is for him and not for us. If he were thinking about it from the perspective of his fans, he’d probably figure that what we really want is for him to bust out the Wal on Big Money and the Steinberger on Distant Early Warning...
