This is my compact board. I use the LS-2 to bypass the Zoom. Mostly so I can just use the switch on the zoom to cycle through patches while not affecting the tone. I do also use it to blend in a clean tone with the effects on the zoom. I use the zoom mostly for OD, chorus, envelope filter.

I think picking technique is important for bassists in covers bands. I would consider myself a fingerstyle player. The pick only comes out for me at covers gigs. I just can't quite rock out with fingerstyle to say, a Blink 182 song. Conversely I wouldn't touch jazz with a pick. Serve the Song...

Not many people can tell the exact key of a song just by ear, without an instrument at hand. You could easily tell if the song is major or minor though. Also, I find the presence of open chords is usually fairly indicative of standard keys like G, A, E etc. I'm not sure if you are asking how...
