It wasn't the battery but after opening the cover suddenly I get sound? so something is definitely shorting within. I was able to confirm that the EQ bypass works without a battery

Ashamed to say I haven't but I thought the EQ bypass on these was entirely passive? I could totally be wrong. And I'll go find a 9V right now
