The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 4)

Finally have an axe worthy of joining this club. Can I get a number? I think its a 2009 5-string Precision. Got it off craigslist from the original owner after searching for something USA made for months. Came with original case just missing the little allen wrench.

What Bass do YOU use for Church??

Played my active Dean for a long time. Now I leave my SX jazz there. It's modded a little. Just waiting for the cash to put in some proper pups. It has a decent quilt for a cheap knock-off.

    In ear Monitors

+1 on the 1964Ears. I have a set of their quads. Upgraded from UE Superfi 5's. The custom mold is the way to go. It takes out so much of the excess volume and if you have a good IEM system, let's you dial in what you need. I prefer Aviom though a good sound person is hard to beat.

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 5

From leading worship ages ago, I find myself singing along almost all the time. More complicated passages I end up focussing on my playing. But when I'm just leaning back into the pocket, the singing just happens. Often those times, I open my eyes and look around and see the lead guitarist...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 5

We actually tried the iPod route. Had some crazy results though. I took multitrack that I had in Audacity (hey, free is a very good price for cross platform). I deleted all the audio tracks leaving just the click. Copied the track doubling the length of the song. Then using LAME, I...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 5

The drummer uses a drum machine, Alesis SR-18, to generate the click and feeds it out mono to a channel on the sound board. Sometimes its a sheer click, others there is some drum tone added, like adding a shaker to help with a 6-8 time. We spend between 2 and 5 hours figuring out the right...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 5

My main band uses a click across the board for all songs. It was quite an adjustment for our keyboard player and rhythm guitarist who were used to more of a flowing sound rather than precise. But having a click has allowed our lead guitarist to incorporate time effects without worrying that...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 5

I use the SuperFi 5's. Except for the tendency for them to squirt out of my ears when I smile, they work great. Wearing the SuperFi's have been likened to shoving your thumbs in your ears. The custom molded Pro series are incredible. Even the dual driver UE4's. Don't listen to your iPod...

    Pedalboard Patch

Its just 4 jacks, <6 inches of shielded cable and an aluminum box. If you have skill with a soldering iron and drill, make it yourself. Depending on the "gucci"-ness of your parts and box, you might break $10.

    100watt+100watt>200watt?

To make something twice as loud, all things remaining the same (cab number, speaker number and size) you need to multiply your watts by 10. So, to be twice as loud as a 100 watt amp, you'd need 1000 watt amp.

    Eden Electronics Club!

Hey....can I get a number? Been enjoying my 410XLT for about a year. Topped it off with an March '08 WT550 head and I haven't looked back. Except for maybe an 800 and another 210 or 410 of the XST variety.

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 3

Couple thoughts on this. As musicians responsible for the groove of a song, I find it difficult to keep still. I have a section that I tend to wander in while I'm bobbing my head, eye contact and smiles to the drummer and rhythm guitarist, eye contact with people in the congregation. Thank...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 3

My main church went to Aviom for a while. It was one of many steps to improving our sound. Of course most of us are now back to monitors/cabinents (once you play a 4x10, its hard going back to 8mm drivers). The drummer uses it still in combination with a buttkicker on his throne. The...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 3

Woot!! More Oregon bassists. But I, like SparkyB, still have most of my hair and can't get my goatee to connect. Might I suggest the Oregon Bald Spot Bassists. Update here... Kinda got over myself on the bass level thing. Now I'm playing in another church with horrible bass standing...
