    MM + J pairing question

I am planning to replace my pickups in my MM+J bass. I really like Seymour Duncan SMB-5d and their Apollo Jazz (neck position), but I am not sure if output levels would be equal. Will they be balanced out? The Apollo's description says its output is "Vintage", which I interpret as low - while I...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I am more like looking for information from all you short scale experts. I have been trying to ID this bass for some time now, but without success.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I still cannot identify this bass, but 30.5" qualifies as short scale, right? (BTW any ideas about the actual model?) [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Big Bottoms: Show me your HEAVY beasts here.

It is about twice as thick as original CT basses and hasn't got the huge cavity. Heaviest bass that I have ever owned, but we will never part with this fat lady!

Help me identify this 1960s Ibanez bass

Dear Talkbass forumites! Could you please help me identifying this (presumably) 1960s Ibanez? Things I am sure about: it had got a new fretwork, the neckplate only says "Made In Japan", and it has 30,5" scale. Skimming through the availabe catalogues I have problems ID'ing it. Thanks for all...

Best Squier P bass for modding?

I like the EMG VMC variable mid control instead of a tone knob. It is very versatile - you can boost/cut a wide range of frequencies.

    Onboard Clean Boost

I had two PA2s - and accidentally broke the flimsy switch on both. Then I just left the broken switch in the "ON" position, and hid it in the control cavity. It's been working like charm for ten years now. I never needed the switch anyway.

    Pairing pickups from different manufacturers

I am toying with the idea of pairing a Seymour Duncan SMB-5a with a Yamaha passive soapbar. Right now I am boosting the somewhat weak signal of the SMB-5 with an EMG PA2. Is it possible to wire these two pickups in parallel/series? Should I boost either of them with the PA2, or should I put...

The Frankenbass Club (Moderately modded basses count too!)

Link Removed Yamaha BBN5II + SMB5a + EMG PA2. We have been through a lot during the past 13 years, this used to be my gigging bass. Threw it into various drumsets on a regular basis - he never even cared. The PA2 switch broke off sometimes though, hence the black tape to cover the hole. :)...

    How many basses

@InternetAlias: your efforts are worthless. They can't really imagine what life is like around here (I live in your neighbourhood, so to speak). Just keep them collecting, while we appreciate what we have. I can only practice on one at a time by the way. :)

The official "Show your basses" thread part 17!

Obscure 20+ year old Korean beauty, just got it this week - hence the photo. :) Surprisingly good sound and decent preamp, absolutely no noise or crackling pots. I have never had an 8-string, loving it!
