Markbass amplifier potential fault fix video.

There are several threads here on TB about the Markbass "ever-lengthening on-delay that culminates in never" failure mode. Mine that failed that way was a Combo II head in an early-Indonesian manufacture 121P. Consensus on the internet seems to be that country of origin isn't much of a...

    SVT-3 PRO Volume

As some have alluded to, the 3-PRO should be run with the input gain maxed or almost maxed. The "clip" light should be thought of as a "signal present" (or "happy-zone") light and should be flashing red +/- 50% of the time. Adjust your volume with the "master". I think my tube gain stays...

    Fender sunburst update 2026.

I have nothing specific that I dislike about the Dimarzio. The bass was available at a good price and feels wonderful so I bought it. I played it on one set of one gig (Realbook-type stuff), and re-confirmed for myself that I usually prefer more "edge" in my live rig than I can typically get...

    Fender sunburst update 2026.

...and I almost forgot... My 2002 Fender Standard (MZ) Precision. It had Dimarzio model P pickups and flats on it when I bought it used in 2022. I haven't changed it, but rarely play it. I actually kinda thought a P with flats was a pre-enrollment requirement around here.

    Fender sunburst update 2026.

I never thought I'd actually choose 3TSB on purpose, but one thing led to another... ...so I bought this 2025 manufacture AMPro II Precision V new. (about exactly a year ago): << sidebar >> It weighs 8lbs, 15oz, which if fine with me. Here's a screenshot of how the Sweetwater webpage...

How does a preamp affect a bass's tone?

Go over on an electric guitar focused web-board and ask them if they'd like to have active circuits in their electric guitars. After the howls and hostilities calm down you can ask them "why not?" Apples and oranges to be sure, but yes, the introduction of (any) extra circuitry will change the...

    Clive Davis, RIP

Whenever I hear the name I think of Commander Cody's live version lyrics of Smoke Smoke Smoke replacing "So help me God" with "So help me Clive Davis"...

Thomann fights back. New lawsuit against Fender.

I'm going to guess that Fender does not have an in-house "Law Firm" but rather a person or two on Fender staff that "handles the legal stuff" and acts as a liaison TO the (likely very good) law firm that Fender keeps "on retainer". I'm also going to guess that the "very good law firm...

Is there a simple pedal to switch between two volume settings?

I just paid $36 for this "used/as new" Ernie Ball VP Jr volume pedal. I mostly got it though so I can noodle in-between-songs quietly enough so that people over at TalkBass can't hear it.

People with multiple versions of the same bass—why?

Dang I just looked and you know, some of them are pretty much more-or-less similar. I need to go check my shoe-rack.

    Who misses notes ?

    Right. One's a "dropped" note, the other's a clam.
