Ill be the patsy that mentions the mundane Rumble. A Rumble 100 weighs 22lb, Rumble 40 weighs 16 lb. I did a recent outdoor farmers market gig with a Rumble 40. It was all I needed for a 4 piece, no drums though.

That repair is correctly repaired without removing the top. They will make a caul that fits the correct curvature, force the wood to meet and align, glue and cleat. Same as a guitar, violin, etc.

Violin family instruments consist of spruce tops, spruce bass bar and sound post, hard maple back and sides. I believe most viol family instruments including a double bass use the same construction, from way back.

That's it, an M3. With a good setup, the portability opens up new gig ops and possibilities. With a good pickup and preamp, its almost interchangeable. Also, I can sling it in a case on one shoulder and walk thru a doorway hands free.

Arco is definitely louder, period. I can barely bow soft enough to not drown out our loud aggressive guitarist in an acoustic unamped combo. Pizz is much more balanced. This thread reminds me, Ive got a PZ Pre, two channel switcher preamp that should do the trick.
