How did you become the Bassist you are now?

I've always wanted to be the bass player because "it seemed so easy; just play those four strings one-at-a-time" stuff, but so did everyone else in the band! We're so numb by the thought that playing the bass was nothing more but "get that lowest note next to the high ones", really. Out of most...

Question: an uneven floating bridge is normal?

Well, Probably “the weather” has merely got a little to do with this issue.;) I couldn't stop wondering over that funny look on the uneven bridge that I finally decided to loosen all the strings simply to get clear. Then I found out that both Tailpiece screws were too tight, somehow it caused...

Question: an uneven floating bridge is normal?

johnk_10, I restrung it with the same type, a Fender 5250XL, no changes at all, except this morning, that the "comfortably uneven set" took place for some reason, but the new setup did work out. I got the balance, tone, just a thought of a funny look under that floating bridge. Really. It's so...

Question: an uneven floating bridge is normal?

JimmyM, thanks for the reply, particularly on that "d'addario took over..." part, I find it useful. Anyway, I am still using a Fender 5250XL set, as there are 2 more sets left as backups. There aren't much of a choice for short scale bass string in my country, though. Hardly ever seen one around...

Question: an uneven floating bridge is normal?

Hi, everyone :D I have a question here, about the floating bridge. I was changing the strings on my Hofner CT this morning that I had to adjust the height of the floating bridge to get a comfortable action; I never really bother whether it's a “high” or “low” action, as long as it's...

Best bass to play for singing

As for the mic stand. I wouldn't put that much effort to get "close enough" to the straight-type; lean back a little and put more power to the singing, but mostly I'm having this type of "nowadays" stand (attached), don't have a "bashing" problem at all :bassist:

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group

I've just posted in another Hofner-thread in TB until I read on this one, so I thought I might just get in, put on my one-and-only Contemporary model, been using it for years without a single complaint, the neck pickup sounds terrific, has a comfortable easy action neck, "unblemished...

    Hofner Basses

I have been playing this Contemporary model for years, haven't had a single complaint, the neck pickup really sounds terrific, has a very comfortable easy action, and I simply love it - have no other bass, just this one :bassist:

Best bass to play for singing

I play acoustic guitar, piano though mainly bass - not simultaneously, that is - while singing, and it doesn't matter that much what basses am I playing with, as long as it's comfortable, has an easy action, sounds "good enough" to get along with the music as a whole. Bass has its tremendous...
