Well, first set (for the JB) I've bought from CH Guitars, they were some generic Chinese JB type machine heads. The second set I was considering to take directly from China (via eBay), but some guy in Poland already imported those and was selling the same type of Chinese machines locally.

The PJ had some other pickup than the Wilkinson originally - the lowest string had some balance issues. I had an option to take the Wilkinson P, but I spoke with the guys at my supplier and they recomended me the Entwistle. With the pickups in the JB however, I have no problems. To say more -...

So, it was a long time without an update from my side :) Yesterday it was new nut day for both basses. JB had the nut changed two years ago to a 'some kind of cheap graphite', the PJ had stock. The material of choice was Nubone. The blanks were adjusted to radius - the groove in the neck is...

Some update on PJ-4 works I've checked the neck pocket - it was already cleaned in the factory to a flat surface Still, I've decided to clean it a little bit better I've also filed the nut - it was not low enough for my preferences. Will replace it for a better quality nut in near...

Need Help - Bass Rig sounds Boomy/dull/lifeless

Did You try to cut the bass a little bit (-3 to 6 dB), with adding punch from the parametric EQ +6 dB @ 200 Hz? Does the problem appear at bigger than bedroom volumes?

Hmmm. Mine is around 5,2 kg. I wonder where is the difference from? 4,5 kg is noticeably lighter on the back
