    I ran into a similar issue, when I got mine. Asked, here, on the 'net, contacted Fender, and called a bunch of techs. No schematics, not much help. I went passive and that solved things, for me.

    I went with Dimarzios, but had to do some minor routing at the Jazz pickup spot.

    I swapped mine out (assuming you meant to type "knobs", instead of "knows", so they're available. Is anyone up for helping me to post pics of my Cowpoke, which I got back from the shop, after a nearly 2-month wait.

    Couldn't get the new pickups to work with the stock circuit (extra wire on the Dimarzios). Called Dimarzio and got TERRIBLE, terrible service from them. Pulling the stock circuitry and rewiring it, passive. Hopefully, that will do it and pics will be forthcoming. I haven't had the bass...
