Nice tone, what pedals did you have in that chain. I'm loving my Sire Fretless v7 so much I'm thinking of selling my fretted Fender bass and getting a fretted v7 5 to replace it. In particular I find the neck on the Sire far more comfortable to play.

Definitely fixable, I'd get a quote from a luthier, I expect a PR fix is 1/3 the price of a new neck.

    Sire Bass Club!

I am so loving my Sire bass a month on from its arrival. Resisting buying another one is the toughest thing as I can only see the price rising over time. This week I've been learning the famous Bach Suite #1 in G and accidentally flipped off the active switch at some point, I was so...

You say the neck has a dent? Is it still playable, it sounds like its just aesthetic if its a dent. When I scratch and dent my stuff I always say "this is mine now", it kind of gives it personality. Some people pay other people to scratch and dent their basses. In any case, dents can...

Really enjoying my v7 4 string fretless. After going through five other combinations of brands and models, the Marcus Miller/Sire is the one that really floats my boat. Its bloody hard not to lose control and buy another one.

    "Possessed" playing?

Not quite, possession, but I think something connected. I just saw a science program on UK TV about a guy in Florida got concussion diving into the shallow end of a swimming pool. He had some brain damage, when he woke up after 5 days sleeping he found that he could play the piano! The...

I own a Harley Benton club

I had a cosmetically beautiful one but it was dead on the G string above 12 fret... so I think you have a keeper, I agree with the view that this is so bad its good! For the money if you like the sound its a deal. Since I began my search I have bought this and a Fender VM FL from Thomann and...

Yep, they used to supply a T-handle wrench, but the Fender man says you take the neck off first. I managed to tweak the Sire with the provided allen key by taking time and care to ensure it was fully seated in the nut before turning it. Worked fine because the hole it the Sire pick guard is...

    Sire Bass Club!

Thanks for the info, I tried this with a Fender American Pro that has a smaller hole in the pickguard and it wasn't possible without scratching the pick guard. I'll try it carefully.

Any guidance on adjusting the truss rod on a Sire V7 4? Can I adjust it without removing the neck? I fitted LaBella tape wound strings (its a fretless bass) and the tension is much less than the stock D'Addarios or Roundwounds. So now there is a pronounced buzz below the 4th fret...

I had everything flat, I was still getting a problem with the passive switch on, I think its probably the iRig, weird though as my EMG active equipped P sounds fine.

When I see a bass with a lot of wear on it, the first thing I think ...

Its ironic that possibly the most famous 'relic' bass in the world (Jaco's) now has a pristine new paint finish hiding its 50+ cracks.
