Tyler Jackson is a true musical talent. He has worked as a professional musician on many instruments including tenor banjo, mandolin, and upright bass. He is perhaps best known for being the bassist for country music legend Ray Price from 2006-2013.

When Jackson was just eight years old, he began singing in a nationally known touring boys choir. Although he enjoyed singing, after a few years he was ready to take his musical gift and focus it in a different direction. At the age of eleven he began studying multiple stringed instruments under the tutelage of Buddy Griffin, who taught him ukulele, tenor banjo, and electric bass. He quickly gained fame as a virtuosic tenor banjoist which allowed him to appear on numerous recordings and perform around the country on the instrument. By the time Jackson was entering high school he was ready to focus his attention to the double bass. Studying both classical and jazz, he quickly discovered that playing double bass was something he wanted to make a career of.

Tyler studied double bass at the University of North Texas under professor Lynn Seaton. With the help of Seaton he began to fine-tune his skills as a professional bassist. When he wasn't in school practicing, he was hard at work playing gigs across the DFW metroplex. It was during this period that Tyler was asked to work for Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys.

Traveling with “The Chief” has taken Jackson all over the world and given him the chance to play countless venues across North America including the Grand Ole Opry, Massy Hall, Radio City music hall, Gruene Hall, as well as the Stagecoach festival, Austin City Limits Live and more. In 2007-09 Ray Price teamed up with Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard to form the highly successful “Last of the Breed” tour. Tyler can be seen on A&E's “Last of the Breed” DVD and heard on the live CD as well.

Besides his tenure with Ray Price, Tyler has worked for many well known artists spanning several genres including Earl Klugh, John McEuen, Randy Travis, Jim Cullum, and Dale Watson.

Tyler and his wife Kristin currently reside in Boerne Texas. He is proud to be working at Hearts' Home Acoustics where he teaches lessons and is a sales associate in new and vintage instruments.
