Who make Relic'd P style basses other than Fender Custom Shop?

I've been a big fan of relic'd guitars for years and nearly all my custom ordered guitars are relic'd, but there aren't many "boutique" bass builders I know use nitro and relic their basses. I think most builders use poly and don't relic their basses. My dream P bass would be Pino’s signature...

    Custom Bass Makers Under $3000

Hi everyone, I’m about to place a custom order for a 5-string active bass with soapbar pickups. I already have a builder or two in my mind but I'd love to know a few more. Btw I understand there are great production basses that meet my needs, so please let's focus on the topic. Big thanks in...

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

What do you think about Fender vs G&L quality-wise? Thanks

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

I bet the ones I tried were just bad ones and can’t speak for all. I owned an American Standard strat long time ago that’s even better than my Fender CS. I’ll Keep looking. What other P bass makers would you recommend? Brand new for under $2.5k so that the used might be within my budget. Thanks!

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

Well I’ve been a guitar player for about 15 years and have acquired a degree of guitar performance. What that means is I’ve played countless high end guitars, and my least expensive guitar is still custom ordered and above $3.5k. I know what a good guitar or bass should be. The ones I tried...

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

I totally agree. When I think a Ray sounds less versatile that’s because the attack, not its sound. When I wanted a mellow bass tone, no matter how mellow the stingray could be, I still thought the attack was still there. But when I want it, that’s the one. I haven’t tried the new Special yet...

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

The one I wanted to buy has big neck pocket gaps, and serious neck dive problem, or I would’ve bought it. :crying:

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

Thanks. Guess I’d better keep looking for a P, and get a Ray later.

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

Thanks. I like how the Ray sound and that’s why I always wanted to get one. It’s not my favorite but I’m still intrigued. I’m just worried that it’s not versatile enough or doesn’t sit as well as the P in the mix.

Stingray SPECIAL How close can it sound to a P bass?

I heard the new Stingray SPECIAL H is way more versatile than the old ones, I’m wondering how close can it sound to a P? I know you gotta get a P if you want the P sound... I just wanna know how close a Stingray SPECIAL H can be? Long story: I was looking to buy a P but after tried a few Fender...

Ibanez Prestige vs EBMM StingRay Special vs Sadowsky Satin

Yeah I’ve met guys who don’t like SR because they thought they needed a J or a P. I’m worried that no matter how good and versatile the new SR special is, they just don’t care and you don’t even have chance to convince them.

Ibanez Prestige vs EBMM StingRay Special vs Sadowsky Satin

Well I mainly play pop, rock, classic rock and 80s and I think I’ll be fine with either one. However, the bass will also be used by others for different genres (I’m building my home studio) so that’s my main concern. A buddy who is a mixing engineer and a bassist, he got rid of his standard SR...
