My Zassenhaus Havana is 27 years old. I still grind with it every day. It is designed for fine grinding with dark roasts. I am grinding medium roasts ATM and it is quite a forearm workout!

The Music Mod Capricious is a one and only. LOL. I really wanted a Music Man Caprice but didn't have the scratch, so, a little modding was done.

I use Amazon 9 v batteries now. The work well and last a long time. When I had USA-made MusicMan basses, I used Duracell, as they are the right size for the battery box and are recommended by Ernie Ball.

I've played some great basses: F Bass, Pedulla, Elrick, Sugi, and seen some killers like Carl Thompson and Ritter. The one I wish I could see and play is by Tom Stenback.

I had one years ago. It was a good bass, not great, but good. In general, Bacchus makes good instruments. I believe the Universe series is still made in China. The weak point on my Universe Jazz was the pickups. I have owned other, higher tier Bacchus instruments and this wasn't the case. Keep...

Years ago, when I worked at Berklee, I learned not to run power and audio cables parallel to one other. If you have to cross them, do it at 90 degrees and you can tape the crossing down so it doesn't shift. This solved a lot of hum and noise problems.

You might be able to find a used Pedulla for your price range.

I used this. Recharge with USB cable. Aux from laptop and I can play along with Jaco. It was like $20.00 I plug in a pair of Sol Republic headphones and Jam. Not the cleanest sounding headphone amp, but adequate for 10pm-kids-are-asleep jam.

You could try the Crown XLS 1002 which has similar power ratings, plus filters, and a warranty. It would be a few hundo more than that used Carvin.
