The Modified BEAD 4 String Bass Club

Thank you so much, that made a huge difference. I looked this up like you said and my B string especially was definitely arcing up from the saddle just like the various pictures I've seen on this topic. After setting the witness points my B string now intonates properly and I even had to move...

The Modified BEAD 4 String Bass Club

I just noticed that the nut was not sitting straight after re-stringing, setting it straight helped quite a bit. I then filed out the nut for the B just a little bit more to make it sit a little lower and now it's around 5 cents on the 12 fret. Is the action on these things not a bit high...

The Modified BEAD 4 String Bass Club

I have tuned my Ibanez GSRM20B miKro 4 string to BEAD tuning but I'm having trouble getting the B intonated properly. Per the recommendation of Prodigius Filius I have replaced the screw with a shorter one to make the saddle go back further and I have even removed the little spring (any downside...

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

It does look like I need a shorter screw to get it intonated properly so I ordered some today. I could have shortened the current screw but I prefer to keep it intact should I want to go back to regular tuning. Thanks for the tip!

Noisy Ibanez Mikro bass - what I found and the fix

For some reason that linked image doesn't show and I'm not able to edit the post anymore so for completeness' sake here is the missing image:

Noisy Ibanez Mikro bass - what I found and the fix

I think you are thinking of a Stratocaster. My Telecaster has a separate metal cover hat houses the controls, like this: I'm pretty sure it's a separate cavity. The bridge section with the other pickup is also a separate cavity. So three cavities in total. So that wire should already be...

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

Instrumental prog rock. If I have anything interesting to share I will do so. At the moment I'm looking into shielding my miKro to reduce the hum and buzzing. That should help making recording easier.

Noisy Ibanez Mikro bass - what I found and the fix

What a timely post! I just finished re-stringing my Ibanez miKro to BEAD tuning today and was thinking about trying to do something about the buzzing and a a quick Google led me to your post. I did the same thing to my Squire Fender Telecaster about a year or two ago and it helped quite a lot...

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

Received my set of strings yesterday evening and re-stringed to BEAD about an hour ago. I like what I'm hearing! :bassist::hyper: I could clearly see a gap between the bottom of the strings and the bottom of the nuts (light was shining through) so I used the bit of string between the nut and...

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

I'm not a bass player, not even a guitar player pretending to be one. I'm a keyboard player who happens to be able to play a bit of guitar and drums. So while they are not that expensive I don't think I would get my money's worth out of it. I also like how narrow the neck is on my 4-string...

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

Thank you so much both of you. That Ibanez set is readily available, don't know why I didn't find it before: https://www.thomann.de/nl/ibanez_iebs5cmk_mikro_e_bass_set_045.htm I will just order a set and see how it goes. Thanks again!

5-string strings suitable for 4-string mikro bass?

I have an Ibanez GSRM20B miKro bass which is a 4-string short scale bass which I quite like. However I want to be able to play lower notes, so here's my question: Can I use the lowest 4 of a set of 5 string for a comparable 5-string short scale bass such as the Ibanez Ibanez miKro GSRM25? Can...
