I thought about that when I found one for sale on eBay, but I don't want a painted finish on the back. I really would like to have a black headstock to match the black body. Maybe I'll get an Aerodyne neck or go crazy and spring for graphite!

Oh that's a good idea, I hadn't considered that. I have played a few Specials that I got close to buying. Any issues, or did they fit right in? I've switched out different components on various basses, but I've never done a neck swap.
