    Acquiring an SWR SM-900, reasonable?

The guy just gave me a feedback. It hasn't been used for 5 years: - Slight crackling sound when powered on - Slight whistling when connected to the stereo output - Very loud when connected to the bridge output There is sound in all cases. So the amp needs to be checked. However, it's the...

    Acquiring an SWR SM-900, reasonable?

One thing I forgot to mention was a little discussion on FB with Andy Irvine who has to service his SM900 from 92 that failed on him . I asked him if he could have the amp repaired and he told me yes, without any issues, since all parts are still available as it's "industry standard that...

    Acquiring an SWR SM-900, reasonable?

That was my assumption too. I just hope that version won't be the one with 8 ohms minimum when bridged. And I hope it's the dual fan version. I'm waiting for some pictures from the seller.

    Acquiring an SWR SM-900, reasonable?

To those still following this thread I might have found one. It was bought on eBay back in 2008, brand new, and converted to 220v after. Since the conversion the fan is always on. I'm trying to figure out what version is it, hoping it's one of the latest Fender made.

    He prefers the German Metros!

The chambering shouldn't make any difference. And I think the pickups are the same on all the Sadowsky line. I guess the setup and strings should be the main difference. I'm saying this as my Japanese Metro felt and sounds the same as the German or NYC that I have tried. And I own two NYC...

What is the spiritual successor to the SWR Goliath?

I want one so bad. Have you faced any issues with? For how long have you used it? Its funny you use the triad most of the time as I haven't heard great things about it. But only great things about the Goliath.

I noticed the head is slightly thicker than the one made in 2010. And the one made in 2010 is not chambered. I wonder why Roger Sadowsky made that choice. Especially since the chambered and the non chambered weight the same.

I own two NYC Modern5 and the latest one made in 2025 has a slightly more procounced neck dive than the one form 2010

What is the spiritual successor to the SWR Goliath?

This post comes right at the moment I have an SWR nostalgia. I was thinking about getting a Goliath back. Loved their cabs but I do remember I had to use them with an HPF to prevent them from over excursion. I was also after an SM900 despite the complete lack of support in case something goes...

I own a Japanese Metro and have tried a several German made ones. To me they are the same. The only thing the Germans made offer is more finishes. That's it.
