    source audio c4

I could use some help with one of my patches. It's designed to mimic a fretess bass and for my purposes works well except for one thing: it's not touch sensitive at all. I have played with the filter, the envelope, input gain, different sources, tried it from scratch and I just can't make any...

Truss rod extremely tight will not loosen - ideas?

I was thinking the same thing. Heat can work wonders for stuck things. I had a very tight truss rod once and after trying little bits of lubricant, I ended up bathing it in WD-40. That worked. But I think there are much better lubricants and penetrants out there.

I just saw an announcement for the Behringer BCR32 midi controller. Can that be used to program the c4?

    Graphite? Roasted? I need stability!

I have several basses, and I don't play them all regularly, I switch them up. Most of the necks are flat sawn, and I live in Florida, so I expect some movement. I check the ones I'm taking to a gig before I go, sometimes they need a tweak, most times not. But I always check. And I have proper...

Also, do what Bruce says. Whatever he says.

    Graphite? Roasted? I need stability!

The seasoning and dryness of the wood matter a lot too. IMO roasting would achieve that. I've been thinking about my Modulus since I posted on the thread. I never once adjusted the rod. I had the bass several years and moved several times. Now you've got me wanting a carbon neck!

    Graphite? Roasted? I need stability!

Very few mentions of quartersawn wood, and that's very important to stability. So is well seasoned wood. I've had necks made of wood, quarter and flat sawn, aluminum, full graphite, graphite and steel rods. What I would do: If absolute stability is crucial, nothing beats graphite. Bite the...

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

I get it about building lightweight basses. I've done it myself. Everything adds up. My preference for wood is Paulownia. Is is so resonant and sounds great. I have a couple of them. I was >interested in what other builders were doing with Paulownia, notably Spector who uses Paulownia wings. I...

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

I have a Sandberg SL which sounds great. But I'd never wait another 18+ months for one

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

I'm very interested in the lightweight options. That's the thing that stops me from ordering a McGrath. Ever since I first heard of McGrath, they interested me. But I prefer lighter weight basses. Btw, that tilting eq is equally interesting. I've used tilting eqs and like them, although in this...

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

A man after my own heart! Sounds like stuff I would do and I appreciate the rundown. I have a bazillion pickups. I'm leaning towards Bartolini DCs I have, but I'm not sure I can get the super depth I'm after with the neck. I could put a Delano mm I have there, a different Bart, one of a...

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

I also like the reverend 3 pickup, but as I recall it has a wide neck like a P, and I prefer jazz width.

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

I'd never remember what I'd wired the freeway to do. My plan is three switches: off, series, parallel.

As for placement, imagine a jbass with a neck pickup kinda where a Rickenbacker would be.

    Pickups for 3 pickup bass

If you were building a three pickup bass, what would you use? I'm thinking bright dual coils for the ability to switch and things. I'm also considering chrome finish on them, maybe Thunderbird? Fire away!
