Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

test vid uploaded the vid of me testing the pup. its at the very end

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

i think it counts as a full hollow body, the top and bottom are separate and floating. stainless steel. the pickup was in bridge position for recordings. i like it best in that position. the pickup is exceptionally noiseless. i'm not very versed in pickups but these feel very responsive and clear.

the test sound files cycle between the 2 transformers in parallel / series and finally single

so close... gonna do up wiring this weekend

    yes / no?

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

the only logical thing to do was a double zmct103 pup with as thick as possible copper primary. off the bat it's as hot as the other zmct pup and in series even hotter, parallel is more warm and less forward. i'll post a test with the pups on a bass soon. i'm just building a whole bass to go...

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

i'm wondering if the low output of the cse187s even in series, is due to the relatively thin primary windings of the cse187. definitely higher primary resistance than the 5mm dia wire loop going through the zmct103

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

i've made another pickup using the cse187 pair as others before have done. tested them in series and parallel. i like the parallel sound but it has the lowest output level of them all. test is kinda screwy cos i'm holding the pups over strings so the spacings may be inconsistent. Next test...

toroidal 1:500 worked a treat, passive output level is already usable as is. 5mm dia copper multistrand. transformer was dipped in a bottlecap of water while i brazed the copper loop shut, survived like a champ. see vid above

had to cobble up a mini flat bar bender. it works ok, 5mm*0.4mm tinned copper strips.

oops. my first pup was more like awg 3. it's 6mm across. converted my metric to awg wrongly

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

video here. its abit buzzy because i boosted it with a noisy mains powered pedal. just made a 5 turns pup, resistance <0.01ohm, my meter doesnt go lower. just waiting for my transformers

Low impedance, Low noise pickups Research. What's the Skinny?

did up a little pup using a common mode choke with 75 turns, stripped one end and tied my awg10 loop around that end. double 6mm neodymiums as expected, the output is exceedingly low volume, but i knew 1:75 would not cut it. i'm waiting on a few cse187s. awg10 is probably overkill as well. i...
